Erica Garcia, a member of this year's graduating class at Round Rock High School, has been honored as the International serteen of the Year. Erica is a member of Zoi Ora Filos, which is a serteen Club sponsored by the Round Rock Sertoma Club.
The Sertoma International Convention was held this month in Toronto, Canada. Erica and her mother were guests at that convention where
Erica accepted her award. Erica addressed the convention with remarks that today's youth are willing and able to be involved in community service.
Serteen clubs are organized so young men and women may become active in providing service to their school and community. Erica was recognized because she excels in service and involvement. Erica is past president of Zoi Ora Filos where she volunteered many hours in community service. She is a member of the National Honor Society , Spanish Honor Society , Math Honor Society , and Dragonettes. She was Vice President of Class Council and active at Saint William's Catholic Church. Erica graduated in the top lO% of her class at RHS and will attend Notre Dame University this fall. Erica was warmly welcomed when she spoke at the Tuesday morning Sertoma meeting. She shared her experinces as a Serteen and at the Convention in Toronto.
Sertoma stands for Service to Mankind. The Round Rock Sertoma Club sponsors two Serteens Clubs, one at Round Rock High School and
another at C. D. Fulkes Middlie School.
