The Holiday Season is a special time of the year. It is a time to rejoice, a time for
celebration, a time for family and a time to give. Sertomans everywhere, and
especially our Club, put special emphasis on “giving”. Look what we have accomplished
so far in the few months of the new Sertoma year that have passed.
We made a donation to the Round Rock Schools of over $16,000 to buy needed speech and
hearing equipment. The hearing aides we purchased for Jett Bay have allowed him to make
drastic improvement in his speech and understanding. The ZOI’s have assembled and
delivered care packages for children in the hospital. The exceptional efforts of our
volunteers allowed us to raise more than $13,800 at Casino Night, money that will fund
future giving. We have provided financial assistance for a family whose child is
fighting cancer. Our donations to Brown Santa, Blue Santa and Just Because will make the
Holiday season brighter for many families in our community. Our volunteers have completed
preparations for our Christmas tree sale which will again be our biggest fundraiser of
the year.
Membership is increasing. Attendance is on the rise. In fact, at a recent meeting, we
had all-time high in the percentage of members attending. A recent audit of last year’s
books showed our accounting practices to be accurate (take that Enron!). This year’s
budget has been prepared and reviewed by the Board.
In every aspect of our work, we are showing great results through the generous efforts
of our members. After the Christmas trees are sold, it’ll be time for a well-deserved
rest break. Time to spend with families and friends, time to reflect on what we have
accomplished, and time to recharge our batteries for the great work we will do next year.
On behalf of the Club’s Officers and of the people you have helped, I want to thank you
for all that you have done so far this year. We want to wish you and your family peace
and happiness for the Holiday Season.
God Bless You All.

I wish to thank all the members who had attended the Fall District Conference in November. Those of you who didn’t attend, missed a great presentation by Karl Hanner called, “Why Me?”. Tom Gill did a short version of a growth seminar and Dennis Graffious was his usual thorough self in presenting Incentives and Awards.
I have received many comments and e-mails from other clubs stating that this was one of the most informative conferences
thus far. Many thanks, gentlemen, you did a great job.
I will be attending, along with Bill Beare and Tom Gill, a Foundation/Growth seminar in December 7th, in Houston. Hopefully, I will be able to bring back news on what is happening at International.
Tom and I would also like to wish every member a very Happy and safe Holiday Season.
Dottie Gill
District Governor
