I received this today from a friend, and wanted to pass it on. I had never thought about
it before, but will now.
“I had a wreck a couple of weeks ago and totaled our Lincoln Town Car. I hydroplaned on
Interstate Highway 35 between Gladwater and Kilgore. I was not hurt, just emotionally rattled! I know
the Lord was with me.
You may know this already. The highway patrolman told me that you should never drive
in the rain with your cruise control on. He said if you do and then hydroplaned (which
I did), when your tires are off the road, your car will accelerate to a very high rate
of speed (which I did).
You don’t have much, if any, control when you hydroplane but your're totally in the hands
of God when the car accelerates. I took off like I was in a plane. I’m so thankful
I made it.
Please pass the word around about not using cruise control when the pavement is wet or
icy. The highway patrolman said this should be on the sun-visor along with the warning
about air-bags.”

Well, the final numbers are in for the 2002 Casino Night and as last year it was a
huge success. I would like to thank all those who participated in the many pre-event
planning meetings, those who solicited gifts, and those who helped out during the event
itself. A special thanks to Kim Haugen and Abbott Labs for providing the great sound
system and computerized presentation. Also to Ryan Johnson of Spectacular Cruises for
donating a wonderful cruise package for the live auction. The money raised will benefit
Blue Santa and other SERTOMA charities.
