President's Report

The Sertoma year is off to a great start! Board Members and Committee Chairpersons have been busy recruiting Committee members, defining goals, setting budgets and planning events.

Rufus Honeycutt has done a great job planning our morning meetings. In the past month, Pat Patterson from the Round Rock Volunteer Center spoke about the Center and about the 9/11 Remembrance event at Dell Diamond. The Bay family, including 18-month-old Jett, spoke about the impact our purchase of hearing aides for Jett has had on their family. We learned that their family first became acquainted with Sertoma when they bought their Christmas tree at our lot. We presented checks to Round Rock ISD totaling more than $16,000 that will fund the purchase of equipment needed for the Speech and Hearing Program. Viki Johnson, Linda Noy, and Julie Johnston presented a slide show that included pictures of the RRISD children helped by our club. We’ve welcomed two new members to the club. Dick Reid and Kevin Wilson!

I strongly encourage those of you who are not on a Committee to get involved! Serving as an active member is the best way to get to know the Sertoma organization, contribute your talents and have an impact on our community. Some Committee assignments require a significant amount of time. Others are easy and don’t take much time at all. There is something to do that will fit your interests and available time. Don’t be shy about asking for information about Committee assignments and how you can help. Talk to the Committee Leaders listed below, find out what jobs are available and volunteer!
