Most of us know Dottie Gill as a dedicated Sertoman and “Tim” Gill’s lovely wife.
I thought it would be interesting to get to know more about Dot, her vision, and how she came to be so dedicated to the goals of Sertoma.
It’s not hard to detect that Dot is not a native Texan. In fact, Dot was born in Long Island City, New York, an undetermined number of years ago. Eventually life brought Dot to Texas, where she met Tom and they were married in 1996.

Dot’s history of civic pride began at age 14 when she began volunteering at church. Dot was owner of Acumen Business Services. She has been a member of the Young Republicans, Vice President of the Businesswomen’s Organization of America, served with both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, taught sewing and arts and crafts at a New Jersey community center, and currently is a volunteer class aide/sponsor in Pflugerville ISD.
Dot’s service to hearing impaired individuals began with her granddaughter, Jillian. Jillian was diagnosed with a hearing impairment as a small child. Dot initially belonged to the Georgetown Sertoma and Tom was a founding member of the Round Rock Sertoma Club. She has served Sertoma in endless capacities, including the Georgetown 4th of July Celebration, built furniture for senior citizens, has Chaired the Social, Fund Raising Committees, worked on Casino Night, the annual golf tournament, chaired the ice cream social committee, served as the 2002-03 District Governor, and now will lead as the 2003-04 President.
Dot has also been honored with many awards, the GEM Award, Centurion, Tribune, Senator II, Foundation Member, and Round Rock Sertoman of the Year 2002.
Areas that Dot sees vital for the coming year include: more involvement, more community projects, increase membership, build a new club in Pflugerville or Cedar Park, as well as greater interaction and tolerance among our members.

WOW!!! It was just that! Round Rock Sertoma Softball League again hosted the National Fast-Pitch Tournament at Old Settler Park softball fields. From the Opening Ceremonies at the DELL Diamond to through the following 3 tournament days, it was an outstanding success. Not all the monies have come in yet, but our GROSS is over $68,000. It simply wasn’t possible without the fine volunteers that worked in high 90 degree temperatures. Much thanks goes out to all the Sertoma Club members who volunteered their time at the Opening Ceremonies and at the admission gates. The Round Rock Sertoma Club makes a huge impact on our community and that will pay off in years to come.
Proud to be an American and a Sertoman
