A Word From Our President
Sertoma’s “DOT” COM(mentary)

Well folks, I trust you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday and are now ready to sign up and do your time at the Xmas Tree Lot.  This is our biggest fundraiser and we need as many members as possible to work various shifts.  Please see Richard Prete and put your name on the list as many times as you are able.  Mike Whelpley had to close the lot Friday night because no one volunteered to help.  This is unheard of and unacceptable.  Without these funds we will not be able to help sponsorship.

Kudos to Mike Parker and his crew for making Casino Night a big hit.  This is another one of our big fundraisers and we did great.  We have already presented $5,000 to Blue Santa.  Many thanks to all the members who came out (and their spouses) to help at this wonderful event.

Please keep in mind that I will need the names of those who wish to be an Officer of the Club next year no later than January 30th.

January 9th is the date for our Appreciation Dinner and Mark and Jim Greene will have more on this event soon.

Sponsorship Report

The Sponsorship Committee had a regularly scheduled meeting on November 4th. We discussed and approved the following sponsorships.  The Board subsequently approved each item as presented.

$500 – Marble Falls Boys & Girls Club: This donation is being made in honor of David Walter, a long-time Sertoman, who was influential in building the Marble Falls Boys & Girls Club.

$1,000 + Man Hours Williamson County Crisis Center: Contribution will go towards making capital improvements at the Crisis Center, including the construction of another separator wall to split an existing room into two.  Rufus Honeycutt will be organizing a work day at the WCCC in the near future.  All club members are encouraged to take part.

$5,000 Blue Santa: Contribution will help the Round Rock Police Department with their annual Blue Santa operation.  Under the program, the department provides food, clothing, toys and Merrier Christmas to local families that would otherwise go without.  The club has been a long-time supporter of the program through our annual Casino Night.

$1,000 – St. Williams Medical Mission Team: This donation will go to purchase medical supplies to be used during the group’s annual mission trip to Honduras.  The team is led by Sertoma’s own Tino Hernandez; Mark Meyer is also a multi-year participant.

Including the items above, our approved Sponsorship Spending for the year now stands at $10,712

Don’t forget!  The Sponsorship Request Form is now available for submission online through the club website at: http://www.rrsertoma.org/sponsorship_request.htm.

***NOTE: Regularly scheduled Sponsorship Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at Brath General Contractors at 6:30pm.  All interested members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
