CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR WITH
COMMITMENT
As we begin the New Year,
most of us spend time in reflection and preparation for the coming 12
months. Sertomans are well known for their commitment to service, God and
family. We dedicate our time and energy to many community projects.
As you begin this
reflection and planning, consider some small but very significant ways to serve
your neighbors, In addition to the wonderful opportunities Sertoma
offers, the following suggestions take little time or effort to help.
1.
Contribute
to the Round Rock Serving Center. The Serving Center has heavy demand for
the food on it’s shelves. Dropping off a box of canned goods takes
5 minutes. They are located at 1099 E. Main, across the street from
Trinity Lutheran Nursing Home.
2. Get on the Bone Marrow Donor list. The Blood and Tissue Center office is located at 3400 N. Lamar (by Central Market). Call Shirley Lain for information at 206-1272. Mention you are a Sertoman and the marrow typing is free.
3. Mentor a child in your neighborhood school.
So many of our children need a listening ear and encouragement. You can make an incredible difference in a child’s life with just 30 minutes a week. Call the RRISD Administrative office at 464-5000 for information.
Contact the Round Rock Volunteer Center for
more opportunities! 388-4575.
All members, new or old, who would like to attend, there will be an orientation session on January 15, 2003, 7PM, at Kent Ochel’s home.
You will hear about the history of Sertoma and our club in particular. We will also discuss the objectives of our club and how you can play an important role in helping achieve those objectives.
See you there!
