Many thanks to those who
worked so hard to make our tree sales successful. It takes a lot of
effort from many to make it happen. This goes all the way from planning,
ordering, lot setup, receiving trees, selling, taking money, and the final
clean up task.
Many of you worked 5 or more shifts and some of our members who don’t regularly attend meetings also put in their time on the lot. Of course, a special thanks to our three coordinators: Mike Whelpley, Cecil Latham (and AJ), and Bill Buckler. These three spent at least 6 days in a row at the lot and that included 3 shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
Also many thanks to the
many who donated food for the workers. No one who worked should have ever
left the tree lot hungry! I know that I didn’t.
I did mention before the season that the ladies in the Club might want to assist in tying the trees onto the cars. Welllll, let me tell you, I know of three ladies (Viki, Kristin, Deloris, and Laurie) who not only tied on trees, but worked the entire lot. If I was a coordinator, I would be glad to have any of these ladies on my shift , rain or shine (because I did see them working just as hard when it was very, very wet).
Thanks again for the Club
support.

note: Tom, you make it all possible, year after year. Thank You
!
Thank you to Flo
Abbattista, Sue Abbattista, Tom, my grandchildren, Chelsea, age 7, and
Anthony, age 10, for helping out at the Trinity Lutheran Nursing Home on
December 8th.
On December 15th, Tom, Chelsea, Anthony and I went to the Hearthstone Nursing Home. On Dec. 29th, Mike Whelpley and his lovely wife, Regina, joined us at the Merrill Gardens Nursing Home. All three were a huge success. The residents look forward to our coming every year. They just love the ice cream sundaes.
Many thanks to Bill
Beare's friend Mary F. Davis, who crocheted about 30 blankets and donated them
so that we can give them out as gifts at the 3 nursing homes. The
residents appreciated the "holiday gifts" especially when we told
them the blankets were theirs to keep.
Our next social will be at
the Grand Court Assisted Living Center.

The
Blue Santa donation was presented to Chief Paul Connor and Captain Stan
Simpson on December 17th. Both Blue Santa and Brown Santa organizations
have been appreciative recipients of Sertoma contributions. This year
Blue Santa was awarded a $4,000 check. Chief Paul Connor and Captain Stan
Simpson of the Round Rock Police Department were on hand to receive the
gift. Chief Connor said that 439 applicants, 400 families would be served
this year. Jim Greene is pictured at the left with Chief Connor and
Captain Simpson.
