We’ve got a lot going on. The District Tailgate Party at the Dell Diamond, our Golf Tournament Fundraiser, a new slate of officers to orient, TABC classes to support the Frontier Days Celebration, weekly meetings, Sponsorship activities….. The list goes on and on. We are doing a great job with each event.
As I looked around the table at a recent event planning meeting, it struck me that the people there were, for the most part, the same people I had seen at the last 3 or 4 Sertoma meetings I had attended. It struck me that the old adage may be true that 20% of the people do 80% of the work. The other thing that struck me was that the 20% were having a great time working together to accomplish the group goal.
We have many new members, and many members with years of Sertoma experience. I encourage each an every one of you to get actively involved in Sertoma activities and events. You too will have a great time!
I wanted to take a moment to thank some people. First, Cecil Latham. We have all come to expect wonderful presentations from Cecil, and he never disappoints. I thought his recent Memorial Day presentation was one of his finest. Many Club members have told me how moved they were. Thanks, Cecil. I’d also like to thank Rufus Honeycutt. Getting quality speakers for Tuesday morning meetings is a big job. The slate of speakers this year has been truly outstanding as a result of Rufus’ dedicated work. Great job! I’d also like to thank Ann Shove for her outstanding efforts as Club Secretary. Ann consistently keeps our records and reports up to date with excellent quality. It is a huge effort that Ann performs for all of us. Last, but certainly not least, thanks go out to Matt Carson, our Treasurer. If you haven’t noticed, while we are all have a good time Tuesday morning, Matt is quietly sitting in the back writing checks, and paying bills. He keeps accurate books, does our banking and is there whenever any of us need him. I really appreciate the great job he is doing.
Thanks go out to all of you. Our Club is healthy in membership, participation and finances. We are having a great year thanks to you!
