Let Me Introduce Myself -

I’m the New Newsletter Editor

Me, with my new software.

OK, truth is, I stll haven’t figured out how to insert the clipart yet...

When I got the phone call that evening asking me if I’d be Sertoma’s public relations chairperson, I had no idea this would encompass publishing this newsletter.  Still, I felt honored to be asked to be an important part of this club (possibly the most successful and influential civic club in Round Rock) and thought, “What the heck, I can do it.”

Well, this is turning out to be more of a challenge than I had imagined.  Among other issues is the fact that I am now employed again and find I don’t have the time I thought I had when I volunteered.

I assumed (you know how that assuming stuff works out) that with a club as established and successful as this one is that the mechanics of producing this newsletter would be in place and that my job would consist of compiling subject matter and checking the spelling and grammar.

My first hint of  facing the challenges I now find myself with was when Linda told me, “Now  you’ll have to buy the publishing software, but if you ask the club I’m sure they’ll pay for it.”   I needed the capacity to publish anyway and my new job ponied up the software so that isn’t really an issue.  Learning how to use it is.

The second and biggest challenge is the absence of material forth coming from my fellow club members.

As you can tell from the amount of this newsletter I’ve written and the number of jokes and funnies contained in this issue, I’ve had a hard time coming up with something to put in this publication.

If you really care enough about this newsletter to ask me to spend the time it takes to publish it, you should care enough to contribute to it.

Some of topics of interest can be: why you’re a member of this club, memorable events and activities, a trip of interest you’ve taken, your pet peeve about this club or this organization, your pet peeve about Round Rock, something about Round Rock you really love, so forth and so on.   You should get the gist of what I’m asking for.

Please submit your items electronically, preferably as a “Word” document or part of an EMail messgae and EMail to me at dhambyins@sbcglobal.net.   Don’t worry about syntax or grammar, I’ll take care that (just kidding).   Please note that I’m going to move my office in October and my EMail address will be changing.  I’ll keep everyone posted as to what the new address will be.
