Message from the President

Sertomans:

The Casino Night fundraiser has come and gone and was a huge success.  And the Christmas tree sales have already begun.  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need to make it our best.  Please continue to tell all of your friends about it.  This is where most of our money we give out comes from.  Please make sure that you are doing your part and contact Richard Preete to help with the shifts he does not have filled.  The success of this fundraiser cannot be accomplished without the help of many.  I encourage any member that has brought a new member in within the last year to bring your new member to the lot and work a shift with them.  What better way for new Sertoman's to be actively involved.

Also, right around the corner is our Baseball banquet.  Kent Ochel has volunteered to head this up for the club.  Thank you Kent.  Please know that if Kent or any of the members from his committee contact you they really do need your help.

Again, let's focus the next couple of months on our big fundraisers.  This is one of the things that make us a great club.

Matt Carson,
President

Christmas Tree Sales in Full Swing

Thanksgiving has come and gone and that means the Sertoma Club of Round Rock has opened its Christmas Tree lot at the corner of 620 & IH 35 at the Wells Fargo Bank.

Richard Prete is again the tree lot chairman with tree lot managers  Mike Whelpley,  Cecil Latham, and  Jon Koch each in charge for a week.  Each of them has a team of volunteers who work tirelessly every evening during the week from 5PM to 9PM and on weekends from 9AM to 9PM.

According to Richard the club has approximately 1400 trees to sell before Christmas and as of December 2 reported sales on a par with last years.  The weekend of December 4-5 has historically been the biggest weekend for sales.

Norm Noffsinger reported last week that Zoi members had been working hard at the tree lot and their efforts greatly appreciated.

Our tree lot also serves the community by allowing young people who are required to do community service by local jurisdiction to perform their service with us.  Reports they have been very helpful while doing their service.  Our relationships with them may help them understand what an important role charitable organizations play in our community.

Richard Prete,
Christmas Tree Sale Coordinator
