Sponsorship Continues Its Good Works

The Sponsorship Committee in November had a very busy agenda, both in recommending to the Board, and in presenting to the recipients at our meetings.  We had a student at the University of Texas who works for the Round Rock School District attend the first Tuesday meeting to receive her scholarship of $ 3,500 to further her goal in education to become a certified teacher of hearing challenged students.  On the third Tuesday representatives from the Williamson County Sheriffs Department accepted a check for $1,000 for operation Brown Santa.  Last week the President of the Old Settlers Association spoke and received a check for $250 for their valuable support in giving us use of their pavilion for our annual Casino Night fundraiser.  Also, the Saint John’s Community Center received a check for $400 to aid in feeding the hungry.  In addition, Annie’s Way received a like amount.

The Sponsorship Committee was presented with five (5) new requests for hearing assistance at our regular meeting on the first Thursday evening of December.  Recommendations will be made on these requests at our December Board meeting.

A Christmas Prayer

God give us eyes this Christmas
To see the Christmas Star.
And give us ears to hear the song
of angels from afar

And, with our eyes and ears attuned
for a message from above,
Let "Christmas Angels" speak to us
of hope and faith and love

Hope to light our pathway
When the way ahead is dark,
Hope to sing through stormy days,
with the sweetness of the lark

Faith to trust in things unseen
and know beyond all seeing
That it is in our Fathers love
We live and have our being

And love to break down barriers
of color, race and creed,
Love to see and understand
and help all those in need.
