Texas Mission of Mercy Visitor Feedback

Hello!!! You don’t know me but I just wanted to let you know that I was at the 2004 Mission of Mercy at the Dell Diamond ball park in Round Rock, Texas.  My wife and I were patients for the dental care.  I would just like to thank everyone that was involved in putting this program together and it was a God sent blessing for my wife and I.  I had my last 8 teeth extracted and my wife had 6 extracted.  Without this program it might have been impossible for us to have this done at this time because we are not financially able to have such services done.  I just want to say thank you, God bless you and keep up the good work. After all this I kinda hate to, but we are still in need of financial help so that we can get our dentures and partials.  We would appreciate any help that you could give us in this matter. Lord bless.

Gene

Success Story @ Texas Mission of Mercy

While working with the hearing test group at the Texas Mission of Mercy, on Friday, November 12th, we all experienced a very sad event - that should end with a brighter future.  An 81 year old woman from Armenia (who speaks no English) arrived in the United States to live with her daughter's family five years ago.  Just a month ago she was removed from that home due to abuse and temporarily placed in "Safeplace" in Austin.  She is trying to learn English but she has deafness of 80% in one ear, 70% in the other.  She was brought to TMOM by a “Safeplace” worker and an  interpreter.  Her plight is being forwarded to our Northwest and Jollyville clubs.  We will keep you posted as to any benefits that are provided her.

Interclub Visit

On November 9th, Dottie and I visited with the Highland Lakes Sertoma Club.  They are a relatively new club and also an active club, but not having attended any of the Sertoma conferences they are unaware of many of the Sertoma procedures.  They had made a request that we come out to visit and talk about some of the clubs officers and their responsibilities.  We spent an hour with about 15 of their members and discussed the duties of the president, secretary, treasurer and the importance of holding club orientations for the new members.

I will schedule another visit to this club in 2005 with the hope that several of our members will go along with me.
