Our
Christmas Tree sales effort got off to a slow start this year with weather that
was “too nice”. Apparently shoppers were at the malls rather than at the tree
lot. However, sales did pick up and we sold trees right up until December 20th.

Our
Christmas Tree sales effort got off to a slow start this year with weather that
was “too nice”. Apparently shoppers were at the malls rather than at the tree
lot. However, sales did pick up and we sold trees right up until December 20th.
As usual we had a good turnout of members during the sale (except on the first night) and I heard several comments about how great our service was as compared to some of the commercial tree lots.
Our profits will be down this year to about 80% of what we have achieved in the last few years. This still represents about a third of our income for the year. We may need to give some thought to another major fund raising event if we wish to expand our charitable contributions. Thanks to all Sertomans for a great effort!!!
The Sponsorship Committee discussed and approved the following sponsorships on December 2nd. The Board subsequently approved each item as noted.

– St. John’s Epsicopal Church – Food Pantry.
The request was submitted by Bill Beare, for a donation to the church’s food
pantry. The funds will be used to purchase turkey-hams during the Holiday
Season!

$400 – Round Rock Caregivers. The Caregivers will purchase a new 3-panel display board to recruit volunteers and clients at Health and Community Fairs. It will feature pictures of volunteers assisting elderly clients with a variety of tasks. SERTOMA will receive recognition as the donating sponsor.
Including the items above, our approved Sponsorship spending for the current fiscal year now stands at $11,512!
January looks like it will be an exciting month as we have a number of new Sponsorship requests in the works. Don’t forget! The Sponsorship Request Form is now available for submission online through the club website at:

NOTE: Regularly scheduled Sponsorship Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at Brath General Contractors at 6:30PM. All interested members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
