Accounting System Changes

Effective 1 July 2004, our club will be migrating to a new accounting system (Intuit QuickBooks Pro) with greater flexibility to track income and expenses by account code and classification.  What this means to all members and the Board is that we'll have much more effective tools for planning, budgeting and tracking our financial performance as a non-profit service organization and that we'll be much better prepared to submit our required annual tax filing to the IRS.

Sometime during the next few weeks, a copy of the proposed new chart of accounts will be routed to every member for review.  As the incoming Club Treasurer, I'd greatly appreciate your feedback and suggested changes.  Although we have to conform to the standards for non-profit and IRS accounting practices, we do have a great deal of flexibility to add additional income and expense accounts as well as classifications for tracking special event related transactions (Christmas Tree Sales, Casino Night, etc.).

Please take the time to review this information when received and provide me with your suggestions for improvement.

Treasurer 2004-2005

Bits & Pieces

Cecil Latham once again did a superb job in presenting the contributions of a World War II veteran. Thanks Cecil !!

It has been suggested that we allow spouses to contribute to the newsletter. I believe this is a good idea and encourage our new Publicity Vice President to actively pursue such contributions

Kent Ochel

The President should not conspire with member spouses !
