Since the Round Rock College Classic was begun in 2001, its goal was to be one of the finest college baseball tournaments in the nation.
Now entering its fourth edition, the Classic has done just that – and helped its community become a destination city for all sports fans.
Mayor Nyle Maxwell proclaimed Round Rock the Sports Capital of Texas at a press conference Wednesday, with the Round Rock Express and the Maxwell Auto Group Round Rock College Classic cited as primary reasons.
“Our city is the premier sports and recreation area in the region,” Maxwell said. “The Dell Diamond is a big reason for that. Between the Express and the College Classic, fans will have the opportunity to see some of the best baseball tournaments in the country.”
Tickets to the Maxwell Auto Group Round Rock College Classic are available for sale from Norm Noffsinger. Our Club will receive $2.50 for each ticket sold. Please do not contact the Express Ticket Office; contact Norm, 255-5366 or 255-0007, for information.
Advance tickets are $5.00 for adult tickets. Senior (62+) and children 12 and under tickets will be available during the event at the gate.

This month I’d like to welcome our newest member to the Round Rock Sertoma Club, Clint Bell. Clint was voted into the club at the February board meeting and joins us from the Round Rock Express. Welcome aboard Clint!
On January 29th, Tom Gill also held a new member orientation session for two other new members, Carrie Pitt and Kyle Corley. The orientation session is meant to take our new members through Sertoma history as well as all facets of the club’s activities. All new members need to attend this orientation, and I’ll be setting up another in about a month for those that may have missed this session. Thanks Tom for running another excellent program!
Just a reminder for everyone, the club has available white polo shirts with the Round Rock insignia that can be worn to show our club unity at Sertoma events. I have just about any size needed, so feel free to contact me if you’re interested in purchasing a shirt, the cost is $16.00 each.
Please help to spread the word
about Sertoma and to strengthen our club by continuing to bring in new members.
Thanks
VP Membership,
Tony Abbatista

At a recent Round Rock City Council Meeting, Mayor Nyle Maxwell proclaimed February 16 through 22 as Sertoma National Freedom Week. During that week, the Round Rock Sertoma Club performed eight live history lessons to over 1,700 5th graders from 18 RRISD elementary schools.
Members of the Sertoma Club dressed in Colonial Army uniforms acted as ‘time travelers’ from General George Washington’s army. The skits encourage students to keep our Nation free and to be aware of our National Heritage. The stage productions explained that the Bill of Rights protect individual freedoms and are the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution.
Members who participated in this project include: Dot and Tom Gill, Richard Prete, Alan McGraw, Joe Lehane, and Marvin Felux.
