Notes From Your Treasurer

bulletIf you haven’t already done so, please submit your 2nd Quarter dues which were billed on 1 October 2004.

bulletIn preparation for required federal income tax filing, all club financial transactions for FY2002 (1 Sep 2002 thru 31 Aug 2003) and FY2003 (1 Sep 2003 thru 30 Jun 2004) have been assigned account and special event class codes.  Financial reports in PDF format for any club activity are currently available to any club member in the areas of Operations, Fund Raising or Sponsorship.  These reports are extremely useful in planning future activities and event budget development.  Send Email request to treasurer@rrsertoma.org specifying year and report desired.

bulletWhen submitting Transaction Request Forms to the Treasurer for deposits, expense reimbursement or bill payment, please ensure that you clearly denote the source of all funds, provide the full name and complete mail address of the payee and the related club activity.  This is the only way we have to accurately track income and expenses for IRS reporting and management of club financial resources.  Also, when submitting cash for deposit, ensure that the Treasurer provides you with a Cash Receipt to avoid any misunderstandings.

bulletLost FY2000 Tax Return – Although filed with the IRS, we have been unable to locate a copy of our FY2000 Federal Tax Return (Form 990).  If you have a copy of this tax return (or know where it is), please contact the Treasurer and advise.

bulletAs a follow through to the presentation to the membership during the 19 October 2004 Breakfast Meeting, the Treasurer will soon have complete historical financial data from FY1991 through FY2003 available in chart format for review by all members.  This information is extremely valuable to all of us since it provides insight into our growth and development as a service organization and provides board members with the tools required to make informed decisions on future club activities.
