Veteran’s Day - A Day for Reflection - November 11th

“Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared half to death."
General Omar Bradley
Each one of you know a veteran and we encourage you to invite them to a special program to honor our country’s veterans through a special program presented by Cecil Latham, a member of Round Rock Sertoma and a veteran himself.
The life of PFC Dominik Zaskoda will be presented in a special program on November 9th. It is the inspiring story of one of nine children born to Czech immigrants in the small South Texas town of Hilge. Dominik could not even speak the English language when he started to school and his total formal education would be complete after seven years. However he would provide a stirring account of the life of an ordinary G.I. Through his numerous letters home that were saved by his family. In all, he would be engaged in the island hopping campaign across the Pacific Ocean designed to defeat the Japanese in World War II. Along the way, this Texas farm boy would help liberate the Philippine Islands from Japanese control and was in the final staging area for the assault on the Japanese homeland when atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the war.
Don’t forget to invite veterans you know to attend this program...

September has been a very fast month with lots of people on vacation. Has given many people the opportunities to spend with families and loved ones. Something we all enjoy doing. We had a very successful turnout for the British Car Show. Deke did an excellent job of facilitating from start to finish and put together a great team for it. Thank you Deke and team.
As we move in to October we become much busier as a Club. It starts with Casino Night and goes right thru the Christmas Tree sales. This is where we need to step up as an entire club and make sure we are participating. It cannot be done without every bodies help. Please see Jon Koch or Ron Gorman to find out what you can do to help. WE NEED HELP! The first thing we need to do is make sure we sell our tickets. Without them it will not be the hit it has grown to be. The more we raise, the more we can give. This is a great chance to give a lot back to our communities.
Let's focus hard on Casino Night and then Drive Christmas Trees in September. Not to early to be pushing both.
