Jon Koch convened a meeting of the Casino Night committee on Thursday, Sept. 2 to gain a status report from all chairpersons. Sertoma members are being asked to participate on at least one committee for this to be the great success it has been in the past. Tickets are being issued to all members and sell for $20. Contact Tom Gill to receive your allotment. The fundraising event will be held at the Old Settler’s Association Building on Friday, Oct. 29th, 2004. Dinner will be served from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM and then gambling will begin followed by the Live Auction. Silent Auctions will also take place. Casino Night benefits Blue Santa and other Sertoma charities in Round Rock. More to come in the October Newsletter.

The New Year has gotten off to a great start. We are well on our way to becoming a Century Club this year. Let's continue to focus on bringing in new members and leverage their talents. This is how we become a stronger club in the community. We must also continue to take advantage of the many talents we already have. As we continue to grow in membership we need to keep everyone involved. We can do this through our main fundraisers as well as giving more time to our communities. One of the goals the Board and I set for our club was to do more community service projects. I am turning to you guys to help decide what we would like to do. Please think about this for a little while and then email me and Dot with your suggestions. Please do this before the third Monday in September. There are many great things in which we can participate.
In the coming month we need to continue to focus on Fundraising. We have the Casino Night as well as Christmas Trees right around the corner. Casino Night is next month and we need to make sure everyone is involved. That begins with everyone getting at least ten tickets and selling them as soon as possible. Then we need the help of as many members possible to solicit gifts and donations. Jon will help coordinate this. This is a huge opportunity to raise funds for our charities. And finally we need to make sure that all the shifts and tasks are filled for the actual event. We have a great coordinator in Jon Koch that will give us the opportunity for this to be our best Casino Night yet.
Planning will begin soon to organize the sale of Christmas trees.. The success of the Christmas tree lot sales is the result of many behind-the-scenes meetings and plans. As a club just continue to tell all of your friends and family about the lot and how nice our trees are. Word of mouth is very powerful. The Christmas tree lot is always a great place to get new members and current members to develop an understanding of each other.
Please continue to make this a great year for the Round Rock Sertoma Club.
